I value all my customers and attempt to resolve any issues or complaints. I collect no money up front and I only get paid (materials-my direct cost and then labor all identified in a detailed written contract. I get paid when the job is completed to the customer’s satisfaction. The issue: There were several cedar boards that had cracks and these were identified to me by client and neighbor; we went around with neighbor & client and identified which ones would be replaced and marked these with a black “X”. Client was not satisfied with this he directed me to leave the job sight; we agreed to and acceptable payout of materials used and labor hours to date. We shook hands and parted. I did everything in my power to try to resolve this situation as customer satisfaction is extremely important to me and my company. I also provide a full (1) year no questions asked warranty free of charge for any future issues with materials or workmanship. My client and I had an understanding in writing he would contact me after the weather improved (snow had cleared) and we would then establish a start date to begin the work-this is in writing from my client in an email. My client contacted me on 10 Mar evening time to coordinate a start date and I told him I had current commitments until 20 Mar but I could begin the work 21 Mar a Saturday-I even told him if I got the chance I would come by before hand and remove all the fence debris before starting on the 21 Mar. He seemed agreeable to this start date during our telephone conversation. On 12 Mar I received an email stating he no longer required my services he would do the work himself. I have honored all parts of our written contract and the email traffic back and forth on what was agreed upon; my client is the one who has backed out of the written contract.
