I wish you would have brought to our attention anything you were not satisfied with while we were doing final inspection of your door and screen together. We have provided many door installation services in the past, some that are even reviewed here on Thumbtack. There is always a possibility that we will need to return to make an adjustment or two (free of cost of course), which we always bring to the attention of the homeowner. We then submitted a quote of $399 to assemble the 2 smaller sheds at a later date. You replied, "That sounds really good." From there the scope of work was changed. You indicated that you wanted after market lumber waterproofed and used for flooring in 10x12 shed, which needed to be cut down to fit the dimensions of the shed floor. We incresed the quote to reflect the "Change in Scope" of services requested. Shortly after, you asked if we could reschedule services due to rain. That was the last communications we had with you for 3 months, after having no luck getting in touch with you here on Thumbtack or through the nonworking phone number you supplied us with. Fastfoward to our most recent interaction, you asked us to requote you on the assembly of the 2 smaller sheds. I replied with our daily rate for 2 men, which is $449 labor. I stated if we are able complete services in less than a day, I could bill at our hourly rate of $70. This quote only reflected a $50 an increase from original quote of $399 for the assembly of 2 smaller sheds.

Keeping in mind that you never gave us the opportunity to discuss the project on the phone, seizing communication through Thumbtack for over 3 months, and changing the scope of work originally requested, a small quote increase is completely normal. Not "gouging" as you described. After requesting more details on services requested, this is the last message we received from you, "That's some inflation after 3 months. I don't think I'll be paying you $70/hr to read directions." We are a small family run business that relies on honest feedback from people in our community.
