New Bergen County handyman franchise caters to aging Baby Boomers on July 01, 2013 at 2:20 PM, updated ORADELL — A franchise that hopes to capitalize on the growing senior population opened in Bergen County Monday. Keith Paul helped found HandyPro in 1996 when he said a contractor ripped off an elderly relative. "We started the company just helping out seniors," Paul said. As it turns out, seniors are a fast-growing customer base. Nearly 14 percent of the U.S. population is over 65, according to 2010 Census data. Seniors make up a slightly bigger portion of the population—15 percent—in Bergen County, where Bill Harvey officially launched the Bergen County franchise of the senior home modification and handyman service company Monday. The company makes modifications to homes to better allow seniors to avoid having to move to nursing homes. Those modifications include walk-in tubs and showers, stairlifts, wheelchair ramps and grab bars. While Harvey, 38, plans to use his background in marketing and sales to get his franchise's name out there, he has owned three homes and has always enjoyed tinkering.
His franchise will cover most of Bergen County, while other HandyPro franchises are already established in Passaic and Rockland counties. "It's an affluent area, so I felt like there was an opportunity to bring this company and this service to this area and do well with it," Harvey said. The Oradell resident will run the business out of his home at first. Harvey said owning his own franchise allowed him to get out of his Manhattan advertising job and work closer to his family.business for sale mull He has a 6-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son.business for sale epping "I wanted to not miss the next 12, 15 years of that experience," he said.best handyman services singapore
Harvey found HandyPro with the help of FranNet, a business that matches people to franchise opportunities. "He saw that with baby boomers aging in place, he knew that people in Bergen County had the money to do the fitting out they needed," Jack Armstrong, a FranNet consultant who worked with Harvey, said. HandyPro has been franchising since 2003, but has been expanding rapidly as of late. The company has about 30 franchises now, and Paul, one of the founding members of the company, said the plan is to double that by next year.business for sale redcliffe peninsula That includes seven to eight in New Jersey, in addition ot the Bergen and Passaic franchises.business for sale kijiji ottawa "Now," Paul said, "we're going to go gangbusters and help as many people as we can."business for sale nanaimo bc

Moskovitz on successfully getting a collection suit against his client dismissed by consent. Mitch’s client is a 74-year old woman who neither speaks nor reads English and relies solely on her monthly Social Security checks. A family member misled her into unknowingly co-signing a student loan for him which he defaulted on. When the lender sued to collect, it named our client as a defendant.
But as the result of Mitch’s defense, the lender dismissed its case against her. # #South Jersey Legal Services, Inc.Why I Do Pro Bono Work by Lee M. Perlman, Esquire I really enjoy doing pro bono work. For me it is the best kind of volunteer work because it is what I do best every day and enjoy while helping others. Having handled pro bono cases for over 20 years, I have found that the more you volunteer the more energizing it can feel. Handling pro bono work does seem to give me a sense of balance while making me a more well- rounded lawyer. I have always found selfishly that my pro bon...o clients are my most satisfied and grateful clients. Who really does not want to be appreciated even more? The other consideration is need. With budgets already cut and an incoming Administration that potentially may not see the value of legal services giving back by handling clients who cannot pay now is critical in my view. There are opportunities for volunteer attorneys in our entire service area which covers 9 counties (Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Monmouth, Ocean and Salem).
