Below is a description of our Home Improvement programs, as well as the applications to submit for any of these programs. Safe at Home Sacramento County This program provides FREE minor modifications and repairs that improve accessibility and safety within the home. The service is available to those who fall within the income guidelines listed below and own their home.  The work is performed year-round by trained volunteers.  If you are interested, please complete the application available by clicking the link below. Types of improvements include: Safety – handrails/grab bars/indoor & outdoor railings, step modifications & extensions, transfer poles, shower & tub mats & stools, smoke & CO detectors Minor Home Repairs – minor installations and simple repairs Wait time:  Approximately 3-4 weeks This program provides minor repairs and modifications that improve accessibility and safety within the home… for those who do  qualify as “Low-Income” homeowners.

The ‘fee’ paid provides the following: A complimentary home safety inspection with recommendations (no application necessary!) and a quick and immediate scheduling of your installation by qualified and experienced installers. Any funds raised are returned to the Safe at Home program and cover “free” services provided to low-income homeowners. We host various home repair events where an average of 40 volunteers work on each home.  Rebuild Day events occur in specific neighborhoods in the spring and fall.  Homeowners are notified when their neighborhood is selected and provided an opportunity to apply for services. The work for this program is provided by volunteers and there is no cost to the homeowner. Please see our income guidelines below. Home Energy Conservation Program The Home Energy Conservation Program provides minor energy conservation measures such as weather stripping, caulking, CFL or LED light bulbs, etc. that increase comfort in the home, reduce greenhouse gases by up to 1 ton per home annually, and help lower a homeowner’s utility bill by as much as 10-20%.  Implemented as a partnership, this program is a joint effort of Rebuilding Together Sacramento,  Sacramento Association of Realtors Foundation, and the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District. The work is provided year-round by an experienced staff member. Wait time:  1-2 weeks Application Process for all Home Improvement Programs Home Improvement Services Application Please include proof of income. If you are a Veteran applicant, please also include proof of Honorable Discharge (DD 214). Applications without verification documents will not  be considered.
