You could check and see if the children's aquarium is still open that time of year and take the older child to that. Its a quiet place that time of year EXCEPT for the Pirate Fest which is mid October I think. You should check into the dates of that as it will influence your trip completely. Its noisy and crowded but family oriented and it will either delight or scare your 3 year old maybe. Are you looking for restaurant tips? You should know that you can't park on any streets without having tons of quarters ready for the meters as you will be heavily fined if you don't keep the meter running. Renting bikes might be fun if you can find them with toddler carriers off the backs. There's always playing in the sand so bring the pails! Plan to drive into the Historic District and walk around but bring the strollers. Maybe give us more ideas on what kind of things you like to do overall.

Hi, Tybee should be great in October, temperatures are still warm and the summer crowds are gone. / can help with ideas while visiting Tybee. Will it be warm enough to swim in mid October or too cold? We are from Oregon, so we're used to cold. Also, what are some restaurants we should make sure to hit??? One destination mentioned in this post I think you’ll be able to get some swimming in. Air temperature should be in the upper 70’s, maybe low 80’s & the water temperature is still in the upper 70’s. Not sure if you have a place to stay but, Beachside Colony or Desoto are the only two places I know of on the island with heated pools. As far as restaurants go, I’ve never had a bad meal on Tybee but, these are a few places we always visit.

String Rays, Sundae Café, Breakfast Club, Marlin Monroe’s and Huc-A-Poos (this is your typical hometown local dive, the menu is limited but the food is fantastic with large portions, may want to do takeout from here). These are the places we always stop at; others we’ve had good meals in were Coco’s, Crab Shack, AJ’s and North Beach. There are good restaurant on the south end but the one’s with a bar can get loud (might not be best for children and mother in law). For dessert we always go to Sugar Shack several times each visit (pricey but good portions and great ice cream) or Seaside Sweets for Gelato. The water was very warm for us - kids swam & swam! While not on Tybee, since you basically drive thru savannah, my kids absolutely loved lunch at Pirate's House in historic Savannah.

Might be a fun stop for you coming or going from the island. The lighthouse on Tybee was really cool too.
