He really takes care of you and is always going that extra mile to that make your experience in Jamaica even better!! . I have used him for the past 6 years!! By that time all the new furniture will have been put in all the rooms. other items are constantly happening. I'll second using Paul Williams as your tour guide. I like Moodie too. Also Omar Graham is giving tours, you can find him on Facebook. He worked at Jewel Runaway Bay for many years and is a great guy starting up his own tour business.......... All the rooms, IMO, are of a great standard, whether they've been updated or not. Whether the new furnishings look more pleasing on the eye, does not change the fact that the rooms are kept spotlessly clean, and when we stayed recently, had one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Hope you have a great stay whichever room you are in :) I agree about the rooms, dawnyg. They are very clean and the beds are comfortable. And since they started doing the upgrades they've only gotten better with the new bedding and curtains etc. :)
I agree with Dawny as well. I have stayed in the big Spanish resorts with the granite and glass and I could have been in Mexico or Dominican. There was no Jamaican flair. Their managers are Spanish and you feel like you are in another country besides Jamaica. There is nothing wrong with this EXCEPT I want to feel like I am experiencing Jamaica. I know it is not the real Jamaica that you find outside of the resort but the amazing staff that you meet will let you see the real people of Jamaica. They are the kindest, respectable and hard working staff that I have ever met. The beach at the Jewel is amazing and the mood and feeling is so relaxing and fun. I cry when we leave because of the attachment to the staff we have formed over the years. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfy and the water is hot. Scott showed us all the new furniture that is being placed in the rooms at the warehouse. Believe me don't ever let people's opinions of the rooms stop you from visiting this resort. Once you go there you will have a hard time ever going anywhere else again.
