Whereis > SA > Kadina Map of Kadina, SA 5554 The largest of the three towns making up the Yorke Peninsula's 'Copper Triangle'‚ Kadina was proclaimed in 1861‚ two years after the discovery of copper ore near Moonta. Experienced miners from the tin mines of Cornwall flocked to the district to work in the copper mines‚ which were productive for about sixty years. Today Kadina and the other two towns making up the Cooper Triangle‚ Moonta and Wallaroo‚ celebrate their heritage with a biennial Kernewek Lowender (Cornish Festival) held in May in odd numbered years. The festival attracts thousands of visitors to three days of fairs‚ dancing‚ games and processions and to sample traditional Cornish pasties.The Farm Shed Museum and Tourism Centre is a good place from which to start in Kadina. Other interesting places to visit include the historic mines area and the Banking and Currency Museum.
