business for sale jasper indiana

We’ve recently celebrated our first year operating Smalley Coffee. It’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but also the most rewarding. For year’s I’ve read Warren Buffett’s annual letter to his shareholders. I’ve also seen business owners write passionate letters to their family and friends detailing how their business is doing. I’d like to do something similar to reflect on the first year.First and foremost some thank you’s…To my wife, Meghan, thank you for believing in this and learning to love Almond Lattes. I could not have done this without you. I’ve had this dream for over 10 years but never did anything about it until you encouraged me to get it done. To my daughter, Hazel, you have never known a day that Smalley Coffee hasn’t been around…I hope that continues! My in-laws are my most loyal customers and have done more thankless work than I can type. They’ve helped me tow and clean the Airstream, tasted (bad) drinks, worked events, built furniture and potted plans.
Smalley is a family name and Smalley Coffee has become a family business. To Wes, Sarah and Katelyn, my baristas: You guys are awesome. Thank you for putting up with me when I’m rattling off a million ideas and things to do. You’ve worked so hard and it means more than you’ll know. You’ve made some of the best coffees and espressos I’ve ever tasted. I’m amazed at the quality of drinks you put together. You guys have earned my trust and have been nothing but professional and fun to work side-by-side. To our Customers: without your support we wouldn’t have been able to make it through this first year. It’s no joke that the first year of a business is hard. You all have been so loyal! It’s been a joy to serve you. And to our daily “regulars”…you know who you are, we’ve enjoyed seeing you each morning and appreciate the foundation you’ve helped us build. Now, how is the business doing? In one word: inconsistent. It’s been great sporadically, but I’ve been downright terrified at times too.
It’s been an education, that’s for sure.At the beginning we focused on the quality of our drinks and I think that shows in our product. handyman services in brooklyn nyOur goal is to get your day started right — with coffee and pleasant service. businesses for sale yuma countyWe benefited from opening during the beginning of spring which meant the spring and summer were solid and as fall came around it got better. handyman services west hollywoodThe word got out about us in the fall and, to my mind, that’s the perfect coffee drinking season. Winter was the toughest of the seasons. I expected it to be slower, but the freezing temperatures and snow made it brutal. There were a couple mornings where we had to unfreeze the door to the Airstream!
Those cold temperatures created a rise in utility costs for us and also saw a dip in sales. During the slower months, we identified some ways to operate more efficiently and are in a nice position looking forward. March is trending up and we’ve got a lot of spring and summer iced/frozen drinks ready to go too. We’re always adding to the menu. All in all, the first year has shown a tremendous amount of potential with Smalley. There are a lot of people in Jasper who love great coffee! I’ve made it a personal goal to work at the Airstream more to get to know each and every customer. We are always trying to improve and we hope you see that. Thank you so much for your business and we hope to see you at the Airstream! Sign up for our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds for real-time updates.
