He is a member of the Alabama State Bar and is admitted to practice in all Alabama state and federal courts and, in addition, the U. S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Mr. Hornsby practices primarily in the areas of insurance and corporate defense with years of experience in cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, construction deficiencies, contract disputes, products liability and claims of fraud and bad faith. He has recently handled complex litigation cases in the states of Texas and Tennessee involving the construction of monolithic domes.
Mr. Hornsby worked full time throughout both undergraduate and graduate school. He began his law career in 1986 as a law clerk with Buntin & Cobb, a Dothan, Alabama insurance defense firm. He joined the firm after graduation from law school and admission to the Bar in 1987 and immediately began trying civil cases before juries in both the state and federal courts of Alabama. From 1987 to 1995, Mr. Hornsby tried numerous cases involving insurance coverage disputes, premises liability, fraud, automobile accidents, contract disputes, and products liability, with a success rate of above ninety percent. He has also handled appeals in the Alabama Supreme Court and the Alabama federal courts. Mr. Hornsby grew up working in a family wholesale tire business and returned to that business in 1995 because of his father’s illness. He worked with the business until its sale in 2009 and thereafter rejoined his former partner, Steadman Shealy, to continue practicing law. Mr. Hornsby’s vast business experience provides him a unique and valuable understanding of business, insurance and contract disputes to assist in the representation of our clients.
