Birds of Dereham is a business based in the heart of Norfolk. Originally owned by Dickie Bird, the business was acquired by Terry Howe in 1970. Back then the main part of the trade was workwear, denim and related footwear. The company was incorporated in 1972 and ARGENT CLOTHING LTD was formed.  The Howe family continue to own and run the company to this day. Two of Terry’s sons have been looking after things since 1983, after Terry’s sudden death. As trade evolved, the main concentration was the Norwich Street store. Two neighbouring shops were added to the existing shop and all three properties amalgamated into one. Through the nineties activities move on to sporting goods and walking/outdoor clothing, footwear and equipment. Schoolwear has also been an ever increasing part of trade over the years. A separate section for school uniform and sportswear was introduced and today supplies many schools throughout the UK. In 2005, as the store began to supply more clubs with their teamwear requirements, a new warehouse unit was opened and in 2009 doubled in size to cope with demand.

The unit now has 14 embroidery heads and full print facilities, enabling it to supply numerous clubs, schools, colleges and universities, as well as our own schoolwear shop, and even customers overseas.
