The peace and tranquility is amazing. It's not unusual to see the herons, kingfishers, rabbits and other wildlife going about their business. What a wonderful place to be. We should know - we're in our 20th season!" My partner and I wandered and had a great walk along the riverside. We explored the priory church and ruins. The landscape was fantastic. Lots of legends and history surround this place there was a fab Tea room as well. Bolton Abbey is a great location with something for everyone. I see people saying the parking is expensive but I disagree. There is so much to do and see that one can easily stay for a whole day, and paths etc. are all very well maintained. At some times of the year, Christmas for example, additional treasure hunt are arranged...
Had a fantastic walk out with my partner and our dog, fab day had by all. Nice long steady walk with plenty to see. I initially grumbled at the £8 parking charge but was definitely been stingy as it is more than worth it. will definitely be returning and 100% recommend it to anyone who likes walking also. Nice place for a New Years Eve stroll, Just find somewhere cheaper for the car park. £8 per car seems well higher than most other attractions. The stepping stones over the river is recommended. Arrived at Car Park which I thought at first was quite expensive, £8 per car, we walked all along the river wind through the woodlands which was beautiful, large maps along the way with lots of information, great for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers etc. we went on a Sunday which was quite busy but there are so many ways to walk... Picturesque and unique setting overlooking beautiful fields and fast-flowing river which you can either cross by footbridge or a long line of stepping stones
